I graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and Williams College in Massachusetts
and received my juris doctorate from the University of Puget Sound Law School (now, Seattle University) in Tacoma. I
also have an M.A. in Education from the University of Oregon.
Before going to law school, I handled grievance arbitrations for a large union, I taught history at
a community college and English in high school and counseled people with substance abuse problems at a community mental health
center. My varied work experience has given me many opportunities to walk in other people's shoes and provide appropriate
counseling.
As a lawyer, I have represented unions (teachers and transit), individuals and businesses in state and
federal court. I have successfully appealed cases in the state appeals court. I have successfully appealed unemployment denials
and L&I cases at administrative hearings. I have prepared for and taken cases to trial when necessary. When circumstances
dictated, I have been able to negotiate settlements satisfactory to my clients. Some of my bigger awards involved disability
discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, sexual harassment and wage claims.
I represent clients in Pierce, King, Thurston and Kitsap counties. I am a member of the Washington State
Bar Association and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association. I am admitted to practice in local, state and federal courts.
I am dedicated to fighting for your rights.
